The 20th century has witnessed a major spark in poverty eradication efforts in policy and research. However, the beginning of the 21st century saw the first globally coordinated developmental agenda that had poverty eradication at its heart. Currently, Lebanon, though ranked as a middle-income country, has almost a third of its population living in poverty, according to the United Nations Development Program.However, data and evidence about poverty in Lebanon are extremely scarce.Eradicating poverty requires work on all levels of social organization -- local, regional and national.
