Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Friday he expected a resolution to the aftermath of the deadly Aley clashes to be reached in the next few days, a move that would lead to reactivating the Cabinet which has not met since the June 30 incident.
"If the ongoing investigation into the Qabr Shmoun found out that the case needs to be referred to the Judicial Council, which is a big possibility, the case will be referred to the council in agreement with all components of the government," the source said. He added that he expected the outcome of the investigation into the Qabr Shmoun shooting to be disclosed in the next two days.In the aftermath of the incident, Hariri postponed a Cabinet session last week in order to avert a split among ministers over the handling of the Aley clashes, including a request to refer the case to the Judicial Council.
Hariri warned that if rival factions stuck to their political positions, this would not help reach a solution to the Qabr Shumon incident.
