Summary
Created by Oscar-winning composer Gabriel Yared and featuring the vocals of Yasmina Joumblatt, the great-granddaughter of Asmahan, the night sought to offer an encounter between contemporary Western music and Middle Eastern lyrics and motifs.
Brought to life by the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra for Oriental Music, under the baton of maestro Dirk Brosse, the set list included rearranged versions of Asmahan tunes, Yared's film music and original compositions, showcasing Joumblatt.
The night's music was impeccably played and the new arrangements were a delight to listen to. Joumblatt's vocals, however, left many audience members a bit underwhelmed.
